Adrienne Dunn graduated cum laude from Texas Tech in 2000 with a degree in sociology. She earned her second degree from Texas Tech School of Law in 2003. During law school, Ms. Dunn focused her studies and summer internships on criminal law. As a research assistant for Rachel A. Van Cleave, Ms. Dunn contributed to the 2003 Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal publication,
"Death is Different," Is Money Different?.Shifting Constitutional Paradigms for Assessing Proportionality.
Ms. Dunn became a member of the Texas State Bar in November of 2003. After volunteering her time at the Federal Public Defender's Office in Dallas, she joined the firm of Broden and Mickelsen in order to develop her own criminal defense practice and benefit from each partners experience.
Since joining Broden & Mickelsen in April of 2004, Ms. Dunn has authored three federal habeas corpus death penalty cases, a direct appeal and petition for discretionary review before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and several federal direct appeals in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Dunn has obtained reversals on direct appeal in United States v. Rater (resulting in the Appellant's re-sentencing of 17 months less imprisonment) and United States v. Dominguez.
Ms. Dunn has second chaired several felony cases in both state and federal court. She has been lead counsel in a Dallas County misdemeanor trial and in multiple Dallas County misdemeanor cases pre-trial. In her most recent trial her client was acquitted after the jury deliberated less than five minutes.
Ms. Dunn is in good standing with the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and a member of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Criminal Justice Section of the American Bar, the International Criminal Law Committee of the ABA, the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Dallas Young Lawyers Association. Recently, Ms. Dunn was also recommended and admitted to the prestigious Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court.
Ms. Dunn was selected as a 2006 Texas Rising Star by TEXAS MONTHLY, Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star. Based on peer reviews, only 2.5 percent of all Texas lawyers receive this honor annually as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers in the state.
